Birmingham NEC Celebrates 10 Years of Outstanding Hospitality
Guests at a special 10th anniversary celebration at the popular Ibis Styles Birmingham NEC recently enjoyed a spectacular summer jamboree-style evening BBQ celebration to mark a decade of award-winning hospitality.
The hotel team, led by General Manager Faycal Bennani, welcomed over 140 guests including a very special VIP, Oscar the dog who, along with his owner Diane Bailey, is a regular guest at the hotel during the world-famous annual dog show, Crufts.
But Oscar was not the only unusual visitor on a night of festivities as the hotel also welcomed a group of very special young volunteers from the 298th Silvermere Scouts, led by Scout Master Steve Moore.
The Scouts performed a series of fascinating challenges during the evening from completing a pop-up tent challenge, to demonstrating their campfire lighting skills and fire walking using giant size Lego bricks.
Invited guests from across Birmingham’s business community, and hotel guests, were also treated to a demonstration of bug-eating by a team from the recently opened Bear Grylls World theme park.
The musical sounds of the Caribbean enhanced the summer celebration as musicians from the Caribbean Steel Band House played during the evening and provided a fitting soundtrack to an impromptu limbo dancing competition.
Faycal Bennani, General Manager of the Ibis Styles was delighted to celebrate this significant moment in the hotel’s history by arranging this special event. “We really wanted to show our appreciation to our many clients and our regular guests to let them know how much we value their custom. It was an amazing evening with so much fun and laughter for everyone including our team here at the hotel who really threw themselves into the preparations with enormous pride and gusto. We raised £150 through our raffle which we will be donating to the Scouts who supported the event.”
Speaking at the hotel’s celebration event Paul Callingham, Managing Director of Starboard Hotels, owner of the Ibis Styles Hotel said: “It is a pleasure to welcome so many guests and friends of the hotel to such a fantastic event. We pride ourselves at Starboard Hotels on being supporters of the community where our hotels are situated. Working with the local Scouts is an important part of the hotel’s landmark celebration and we are pleased to support the Scouting movement.”
