Opening General Manager Appointed at Park Royal
Marnix Teeken has been appointed to the role of Opening General Manager of our landmark Hampton by Hilton London Park Royal hotel.
The 162-bed property, currently under construction, will incorporate a unique listed façade, and is located on Connell Crescent in the Park Royal, Ealing. Scheduled to open in the Spring of 2020, the hotel will be Starboard Hotels first London property.
Starboard Managing Director Paul Callingham said: “The appointment of Marnix Teeken as Opening General Manager of our flagship London Hampton by Hilton Hotel marks a significant step in the development of the hotel, which is on schedule to open in early 2020.”
“Marnix is a highly experienced hospitality professional and brings with him a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of running a hotel. He has been a valued member of the Starboard general management team for a number of years now having previously been the General Manager of the ibis Gatwick. We are looking forward to working together on the launch of this exciting new development. This will be the first Hampton by Hilton in the Starboard portfolio and reflects our ambitious growth plans."
Marnix has over twenty years of senior hotel management experience, working with leading hotel brands in his native Holland, as well as Scotland, Japan and England. “I am thrilled to be part of the pre-opening team of Starboard Hotels’ first Hampton by Hilton and I look forward to leading a new team in what promises to be a very busy hotel in one of London’s primary areas,” said Marnix.
With an enviable reputation as one of the UK’s fastest growing, independently owned hotel owner/operator and developers, Starboard’s new Hampton by Hilton hotel represents an investment of approximately £26M. As Paul added: “Starboard’s growth strategy for the past few years has been through the acquisition of trading hotels, culminating on achieving the target of owning and operating 20 hotels by 2020.”
Being too busy buying hotels, Paul Callingham, was initially reluctant to develop, until he was approached by CBRE with the opportunity to buy a site next to Park Royal Underground station to develop a 162 bedroom Hampton by Hilton behind an Art Deco listed facade.
Ironically, as a young man in the 1970s, Paul was letting warehouses and factories in Park Royal for West End Surveyors Grant and Partners, so the opportunity to develop, own and operate a hotel on his home patch was too tempting to miss. As Paul explained: “This exciting project, which began many years ago, is nearing completion and will be Starboard’s first franchise with Hilton. We remain committed to improving Starboard’s portfolio through refurbishment, acquisition and further development opportunities.”
